Dear Marsing Middle School Parents/Guardians,

As you are aware, Mrs. Melaney White passed away during the Thanksgiving break. We have been working on a plan for the second semester to ensure that your children receive the highest quality education possible with the loss of a fabulous teacher. We have decided to make some assignment changes for teachers and modify our schedule so that our current teaching staff can meet the needs of our students without needing to add a new staff member.

Mrs. Dee Dee Alderson is in her second year at Marsing Middle School, where she has been teaching 7th grade Social Studies and Literacy Intervention. Mrs. Alderson is certified to teach all subjects for grades K-8. She will be teaching 6th grade Language Arts and Reading for the second semester and has been preparing for the switch for the past couple of weeks.

Mr. Brock Bridges is in his second year at Marsing Middle School, where he has been teaching 8th grade Social Studies and electives. Mr. Bridges is certified to teach History for grades 6-12. He will be teaching 7th and 8th grade Social Studies for the second semester and will work with Mrs. Alderson as he is preparing for the switch.

Finally, we are adjusting our master schedule, which will impact most of the students. We have asked students to let us know about changes they would like to see in their chosen electives, and we are pleased to say we are able to meet most of the requests. We have also been reviewing student performance on the fall ISAT, the spring ISAT, and class grades. Some of our students need more support in math and/or literacy and will be moved into an intervention class or study hall for the second semester to help them improve their skills. Our hope is to have schedules distributed to the students before we end this semester.

We appreciate your support through these challenging times. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Brian Marshall, Principal

P.S. - A copy of the letter is being sent home with students today.
