PowerSchool is our computerized student information system. Parents and students can use it to:
- Check
class assignments and grades. Grades are in real-time, depending on the
last time each was updated (should be updated at least every 10 days).
- Keep up to date on attendance.
- Read comments from the teachers.
Login to PowerSchool
In order to get access to PowerSchool you need to:
- Do a brief 10 minute training on PowerSchool. Contact Kerri at the middle school office to make an appointment (kdines@marsingschools.org or 896.4111x397).
- Sign a user agreement
- Receive a username and password
Please
remember that the individual student grades may or may not be updated
today. Understand that we seek to update grades at least every 10 days.
If you need to clarify anything sooner than that please ask. You can
email Kerri Dines at kdines@marsingschools.org or you can email
individual teachers with links directly from their current grades in
PowerSchool or from the Teacher Links page. Remember to use good email etiquette (see below).
Email Etiquette:
Email can be a powerful communication tool when it is used properly.
There are some basic rules that should guide your use of email.
- Remember,
that your child's teachers and staff members are important members of
your team who want to work for your child's success. Don't burn bridges.
- Use the subject line.
- Only send email to the people that need to see it.
- Keep your messages short and focused.
- Avoid using all capital letters. IT MAKES IT LOOK LIKE YOU ARE SHOUTING!
- Use spell-check and read your message before you send it.
- Don't write anything you wouldn't say in public.
- Don't
send mean or angry (flame) emails. Disrespectful or derogatory emails
will result in the loss of PowerSchool access for the parent.
- Use
email for clarification and non-confrontational communication. If you
need to confront someone or think there is a problem, make an
appointment to talk to them in person, as it is more likely to result
in a better understanding.
- Do not forward lists or chain
letters. Many internet chain letters are hoaxes and you risk putting
yourself on the spam filter list.
- Protect your passwords. If someone else is using your account you are still responsible.
